As the name also suggests, this is a style evolved from the traditional style. Its most important features are those of its predecessor, such as accentuated styling and extremely vivid colors, but it also adds a touch of illustrative quality. Neotraditional artists use different line conducting techniques to achieve a more textured and more detailed effect. The use of very few transitions is also a common feature it shares with traditional tattooing. One basic characteristic is the use of black paint as foundation for colors.
